‘Taking Pause,’ includes discarded ropes from the North and South ferries on Shelter Island, as well as smaller discarded ropes from local fishermen placed at the base of trees. Ropes were essential on the ships that connected the trade between Sylvester Manor’s provisioning plantation and Barbados.
